Girls basketball team prepares for a great season
As winter begins, it marks the start of the basketball season. This year, the girls’ basketball team is preparing for a great season.
The main goal for this season is to get back to State.
“We missed going to State by one game last year. We’ve been to State every single year for the past eight or nine years, but we’re in a really competitive region one, so it’s gonna be a lot of work,” said Coach Jones.
Their approach to practice is just to keep it fresh, fun, and exciting. They want the girls to look forward to coming to practice every day and want to get better.
This year the team has eight returners, and only one senior.
“We’re not a veteran team at all,” Coach Jones commented.
The returning members are: Natalie Duke (senior), Annie Pitcher (junior), Julia Nettleton (junior), Annie Fuller (junior), Hannah Loveland (junior), Kylie Evans (junior), Kelsey Leavitt (junior), and Regan Hansen (junior).
Some of the new players include: Pheobe Arnold (sophomore), Olivia Gines (sophomore), Halle Lund (sophomore), Callie Tolman (sophomore), and Libby Tupuola (sophomore). This year the team also has five Freshman.
The girls are excited for this season.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know this new team. I’m really excited to get to know them and watch them grow and to get better, and just watch our whole team grow,” commented Natalie Duke.
The girls play every Tuesday and Thursday, same day same place as the boys. Girls varsity plays at 5:15, so come support them!
Just a girl finding her voice.
