Boys Golf swings to another win

On Thursday September 6th, the boys golf team had their second match of the season. The match was held on our local Davis park golf course, where the boys put on a stellar performance taking home first place in varsity and JV. The Varsity boys showed their dominance, winning by 4 strokes without their star player, Cole Ponich, present at the meet. The Junior Varsity team also showed up winning their match as well. The JV squad was lead by Hogan Turner who stepped up and played well to lead the darts to another win.

So Far this season the Golf team is proving to be a very successful sports team at Davis high. After taking second in the region and qualifying for state, the team had a huge upset beating the rest of the competition and bringing home a state title last year. After this big win the team has a lot of pressure on their shoulders as they swing for another state title this year. So far they are looking to have a promising season and we are hoping the boys can take their game and leave with a title.

As the year continues the Darts are looking to finish out the season strong. So far they have won most of their matches and have seen players step to fill big roles. The one thing the team needs to improve is playing a solid two days of golf instead of just a strong first or second day. “We are now going into the State tournament next week and we really need to play 2 good days of consistent golf in order to repeat as State Champions.” says Bennett Horne, The golf team coach. So wish the Darts the best of luck as they enter the state tournament, and hope they can all be on their best game in order to bring home the state title.
