More stories from Megan Muirbrook

Davis High School prides itself in it’s girls tennis team. Each member works a minimum of 15 hours weekly on their tennis skills, they take the competition very seriously and make sure to have fun at the same time. Our Davis High tennis team has many skills and strengths, one of them being they work extremely well together. Mentally and physically they help one another out not only during their matches and practices, but while walking the halls as well.

One super important thing for each of the team members to remember is to “remain physically and mentally fit.” Sarah Major says, “Tennis is not only a very physically exerting sport, but a major mental game as well. Each play must be thought out and put into your muscle memory.” The girls work hard every time they get the chance, in order to win state and successfully fill in the footsteps of the players who graduated ahead of them. Each year for seven years the Davis High School tennis team has won region, and their goal is to go above and beyond that and win state this year. In order for the team to do this they keep their attitudes positive, and their practices productive. Sarah Major states, “The key to preparation is being confident physically, and mentally.”.

“Each girl brings something to the team that is important, and needed.” Coach Wahlstrom says. “They all work extremely well together which is definitely one of the many strengths of our team”.  The Davis High School girls tennis team has done so well so far this year, and the future of the team is looking even brighter!
