Holiday Charity
January 22, 2018
Christmastime brings about a spirit of joy and giving. Many people enjoy performing acts of service during this time of year.
“I think it [service] is important, because the people that we give these gifts to wouldn’t get anything otherwise,” junior Bailee Wight said.
It can be observed throughout many communities, that families have service traditions for the holiday season.
“Most Christmases, instead of doing cousin gifts, we pick a family [in need] and give gifts to them instead,” Wight said.
There are several companies and organizations that do charities specifically during Christmas Time, such as Toys for Tots, Operation Christmas Child, Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Angel Tree.
“This year we did the Shopko Angel Tree,” Wight said.
The charities ask for simple donations from the public to give to the less fortunate.
“Sometimes they [the receiving families] are just asking for coats or shoes, and maybe one toy,” Wight said.
