The Davis High swim team is off to a strong start this year with the 2017-2018 season starting October 1. The team started swimming at the beginning of the year, starting their training, continuing throughout the winter season practicing every day for 2-3 hours.

One of the coaches of the team, claims that participating in sports and/or activities gives students a chance to live life.

“It teaches them life skills,” Coach Ebyn Conrad said.

According to goodsports.org, Kids who play better generally do better, both in and out of the classroom. They have the chance to excel socially and have better health. Playing sports allows a child to develop life skills such as goal setting and develop the work ethic to achieve those goals.

Coach Conrad motivates his swimmers through goals and improvement,

“This is for them, if they want to improve they will improve, if they don’t want to improve they won’t improve,” Coach Conrad said.

To succeed in a sport or activity, love and passion for that activity must take place.

“As a team we are trying to get better and motivate each other to keep coming to practice and to swim faster,” swimmer Tom Mi said.
