The Marching Band was invited to attend and play in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in November of 2017. In order to get the whole band to New York, they have planned a Color March, a fundraiser available to the community.

“We went to the city and we had them block out the area that we’re going to do it in,” Band Director Mr. Hendricks said. “We contracted with a company to make colored corn starch to throw at children, adults, dogs, and anything else that comes to run in the Color March.”

A lot of prep work had to be done in order to proceed with the Color March. However, the marching band was not left high and dry as they were planning.

“I have amazing band parents who have put the whole thing together,” Hendricks said.

Color runs are becoming more common, but are not always that close to home. Come participate in the nearest color run on May 13 at 8 am. Visit dhsboxoffice.com to preregister.
