The chair arm race has been performed for as long as wheeled chairs have existed, but has recently become a trend on the east coast in a few high schools and colleges. The race consists of using arm strength to pull forward dragging their legs on a wheeled chair.

“That’s crazy I’ve never seen this before, but it looks really fun,” senior Michael Nielson said. “I understand why it’s a trend, but dude this is ridiculous.”

Notably every race consisted of one contestant falling over from their chair allowing the other to win the race. Students who were passing by in the hallway stopped to observe the race and join in the cheering for specific people.

”I don’t get it, and I don’t want to bother understanding it,” senior Aaron Reid said.
