Colin Kaepernick is a professional football player for the San Francisco 49ers. On one of the team’s preseason games he knelt down during the national anthem. This sparked debate across the whole nation. He has received praise from fellow athletes and hate from the majority of the Country.

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” Kaepernick said after the incident.

Many believe the cause is noble but it is fought in the wrong form.

“I don’t think I would [kneel] because it doesn’t affect me 100 percent, but it’s their fight and I totally agree with what they are doing,” senior Corey Crockett said.

“It’s kind of a sign of disrespect towards the nation because we got people out there dying for our country, giving all they got and then there are people kneeling down during the national anthem. It’s kinda ridiculous,” senior Alec Mease said.
