For the first time in Utah history, Davis’ Football team has received the most wins in the state. What this means exactly is that the football has more total wins than any other school. The team has always worked hard to earn this title, and Colton Chronister, the quarterback on the team, explained that the potential for them to become number one this year is that, “Everybody loves everybody, and we’re all friends… we have a team bond that is hard to find.” Further more, he explained that the team improves by sticking to their motto, “You’re either getting better or you’re getting worse.” And that’s exactly what they do. They focus on getting better each week, and they avoid making the same mistakes that they have from the week before.

Although time is especially important for attaining all of the wins that the team has received, Colton explained that the reason they haven’t made it in the past is not only because of the competition, but because of the bond that the team just didn’t seem to have until this year. The team is definitely determined and hopes to continue its standing in the state, In regards to if the team would continue to hold their standing, Colton said, “I don’t know, we’ll have to see. The team has talent; it’ll always have talent.”

Coach Gladwell, the offensive coordinator of the football team, works very closely with Coach Bishop and the team. This will be his sixth year with the team now, and has just come back after teaching at another school. He said that the team is, “very coachable, whatever the coaches ask them to do, they do it… And they’ve had a lot of success just from that.”

What does receiving the most wins mean for the team? As Coach Gladwell puts it, “I don’t know. We don’t really talk about it, we don’t mention the standings… We just try to get better every week.”

This tremendously impacts the students at Davis high,  “When community members [and] students [and] teachers come out, we like to support winning teams.” mentioned Coach Gladwell. Davis High has a tradition of winning, let’s hope they can keep it up in the future.
