In its first-ever Super Bowl commercial, Ritz Crackers paid homage to Utah’s iconic Bonneville Salt Flats, setting the perfect scene for the Super Bowl commercial. The Ad features actors Audrey Plaza and Michael Shannon at the “Ritz Salty Club,” located conveniently upon a literal flat expanse of salt.

The Actors engage in a playful debate over which one of them is the “saltiest” person. With fun quotes like “When I smile, people assume it’s a glitch,” and Plaza retorting, “Please, I’m the human version of Monday.” Musician Bad Bunny makes a cameo appearance as quite the cheerful guy, clearly breaking the club’s “No smiles allowed policy” Because Ritz makes even the “saltiest” of people smile.

The Bonneville Salt Flats as the backdrop was the clear perfect choice for a commercial for a salty cracker featuring salty people in a desert expanse full of salt. This unique landscape has been featured in various films and commercials but its association with Ritz adds a flavorful twist to its storied history!

Utah residents are rightfully expressing some pride in seeing our state’s natural wonder highlighted on a stage as grand as the Superbowl. The salt flats, formed from the remnants of ancient Lake Bonneville, are a testament to Utah’s geological history.
