The Esports Club is a club at Davis High where you play games. The club is very welcoming and shows how many people can have the same interests as you in video games. These games consist of team games. Overwatch, Valorant, Fortnite, etc… The club recommends these games because they use teamwork. Sure, it gets a little rowdy, but everyone has fun.
Valorant is a first-person shooting game where you and your team work to either disable a bomb or plant a bomb. There are many game modes, but the most common is the bomb game mode. If you die in the game, you don’t respawn until that round is finished.
Overwatch is also the same except you respawn. Most game modes in overwatch are Control point, Payload, and capture the flag. The control point is where one team must capture the other teams’ points before time runs out. If your team captures the point more time is added, and you move on to however many points you need to capture before the time runs out. Payload is where you push a cart to the other team’s spawn, so it explodes. But instead of one team playing the role of pushing the cart, the other team and push the cart back to your spawn and win the game. Capture the flag is pretty much in the name. You go inside the other team’s base and try to get to the intelligence to take it back to your base. If you capture the flag, you get a point. This usually goes until whatever team gets to 3 captures first. There is no time limit you can play this game mode for hours just doing nothing.
Fortnite is a battle royal game, but I wouldn’t prefer playing that with teams. Although the game is supposedly fun you don’t have a task besides eliminating everyone separately from your team. Each of these games has characters with interesting skills and backstories. Many have unique fight styles, and you can decide which character suits you.
These aren’t the only game options. If you want, you can always recommend games to play. Everyone is always interested in finding new games to play or sticking with the old ones. The club goes on from the time school gets out to 5:30 but you can leave anytime in between. What this club teaches you is teamwork. You join some of the other club members in whatever game they decide to play. Of course, you can choose what game that is but as long as you work together you can have a great time.
These games are fun to play with people and help build relationships with others you didn’t even know. It’s a very open and fun group that welcomes anyone and every club meeting is on Friday. I personally find the group entertaining and make many new friends every time I go back. Finding a group of people that have the same interest in video games as you can be somewhat difficult, but the Esports Club helps you do that. Consider joining!
