There are a lot of movies coming out this year. From animated Disney movies to live-action slashers, there is a wide variety of films coming out this year. With multiple major studios planning on releasing films, there is a lot to look forward to. Here are some of the most anticipated movies for 2024.

Next month, on February 14 marks the release date for the biographical musical drama film, Bob Marley: One Love. It will follow the life of Bob Ross (played by Kingsley Ben-Adir) and his life as a famous reggae musician. Bob Marley’s wife, Rita Marley will be played by Lashana Lynch. This Paramount Pictures film will be directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green. The latest biographical film of a musician, this movie should be a good watch if you have any interest in music.

This February, Sony Pictures plans to release their new move, Madame Web. It will be based on the Marvel comic character Madame Webb. This movie will star Sydney Sweeney, Isabela Merced, Dakota Johnson, Emma Roberts, and Adam Scott. It will be directed by S.J. Clarkson. This is one of the biggest superhero movies set to release this year.

Possibly the most anticipated movie of the year, Dune 2 will be the sequel to the popular movie that came out in 2021. The sequel will star Timothée Chalamet and Rebecca Ferguson returning in their roles from the original. Dune 2 will continue the story from Frank Herbert’s fan-favorite series, Dune. It will be directed by Denis Villeneuve and is set to drop in March. This movie has a budget of $120 million and will likely profit as there is little competition for it at the box office.

Considered by many to be one of the best-animated trilogies is DreamWorks Kung Fu Panda. A fourth installment to the trilogy is set to release this year in March. Jack Black will of course return as Po, along with some new characters. It is not known whether the original cast will return to voice their characters from the last three films. This will be a great watch for the family.

Imaginary Friends is an original movie directed by John Krasinski. It is set to release on May 17^th and distributed by Paramount Pictures. This movie follows a young girl (played by Cailey Fleming) who can see everyone’s imaginary friends. The cast has many big names like Ryan Renolds, Matt Damon, Steve Carell, and Awkwafina. This should be another fun movie to see with the family.

Everyone’s favorite lasagna-eating cat, Garfield is coming to the screen in his new movie The Garfield Movie. Chris Pratt, Samuel L. Jackson, and Nicholas Hoult are some of the cast for this upcoming movie. Mark Dindal will be directing this movie set to release May 24^th.

June 28^th is the release date for A Quiet Place: Day One. This will be a prequel set in the same universe as John Krasinski’s first two installments of the series. Though he directed the first two films, Krasinski will not be directing this prequel. Instead, Krasinski chose Michael Sarnoski to direct it as he wanted a fresh start to the series.

The 4^th installment to Universal Studios’ popular franchise, Despicable Me 4 is set to come out in July. This movie will return to the main story with Gru and the minions. Patrick Delage and Chris Renaud will direct this film produced by Illumination. Steve Carell will return to voice his famous character once again. Not much is known about the plot of this movie yet but it is sure to be a good time.

Disney Pixar is releasing a sequel to their original film Inside Out. Inside Out 2 will have the emotions from the first one meet other new emotions as their host, Riley grows up. The movie will be directed by Kelsey Mann and Meg LeFauve. It is set to release on June 14^th.

One of 2024’s biggest movies set to release on July 26^th, is Deadpool 3. The next installment to the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s series Deadpool is Deadpool 3. The film will star Ryan Renolds returning as Deadpool, and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine from the Logan movie which exists in the same continuity as the Deadpool movies. The film will be directed by Shawn Levy. Morena Baccarin, Brianna Hildebrand, and Jennifer Garner as her character Elektra from Marvel’s film, Elektra are also part of the cast. Everyone loves a good superhero movie, so this should be a good watch.

The 3^rd installment of the Terrifier series, Terrifier 3 is set to release in December of this year. The film, as opposed to the last two, will be a Christmas slasher. The film will be directed by Damien Leone and David Howard Thornton will return as his famous character, Art the Clown. The movie will have a budget of 2 million which is 8 times more than the second film and almost 60 times that of the first. This huge budget increase has fans very excited about the new film and the improvements they can make with the increase.

Walt Disney Pictures Mufasa: The Lion King is set to release on December 20^th this year. It will be directed by Barry Jenkins. This movie will be a prequel to the original film The Lion King, which is the 9^th highest-grossing movie of all time. It will follow the story of Simba’s late father, Mufasa. Seth Rogen, Aaron Pierre, Billy Eichner, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and John Kani are the only known voice actors for the film so far.

Venom 3 is another film in the Sony Pictures Venom series, set to come out this year on November 8^th. There hasn’t been much information given about this movie, not even the title. We do know that Tom Hardy will return in his role as Eddie Brock/Venom. There is a possibility this film gets delayed further due to little information being released about it.

There are tons of great movies releasing this year. With all these films there will be lots of options to choose from if you feel like watching a new movie. This wide variety of films should make for a great year in the movie industry.
