Following a strong season last year the defending 6A region 1 champions the Davis Darts girls basketball team has once again started off strong with a 11-0 record at the conclusion of the preseason. The darts are playing sound basketball behind the play of senior Kendra Kitchen who recently passed 1000 career points, and Kate Richards who is averaging 13 points a game.

Throughout the preseason there has been a large increase in team scoring as opposed to last year where the team’s scoring was largely by Junior UVU Commit Kendra Kitchen. The Darts started the preseason at former region opponent Viewmont were they handed the Vikings a decisive loss, with a 59-38 victory. The win against the Vikings would be the start of a pattern of decisive victories in which they took down Mountain Crest, Riverton, Woods Cross, and Timpview all by double digit margins. The biggest win of the season then occurred in the 53-19 dismantling of the Cyprus Pirates. The Darts then had two closer games with the AF Cavemen, and Olympus Titans whilst still having a margin of victory of over 10 points. By Christmas break the Darts had an 8-0 record and were feeling good. Coming back the Darts did not skip a beat as they handed the Murray Spartans, And Northridge Knights 30+ point losses.

The final game of preseason play was the first true test as the Darts fell behind at the have 20-21 in a game with high pressure defense on both ends of the court. The Darts T’Maea Eteuati came out of the matchup with 21 points and led the team to a close 56-53 victory over the Mountain Ridge Sentinels.

The Darts begin region play this Friday in a matchup of the two co-champion teams in region one last season. The Darts play the Fremont Silver Wolves who have started this preseason with a sub .500 record which is strange for the team that is normally a top team in the state. Following the Silver Wolves game the Darts return to play on their home court where they will host the Layton Lancers before facing a strong team in the Syracuse Titans. The first half of region
