“And now for the Davis D’ettes,” the announcer declairs.

The energy is high as you and your team walk onto that floor, the team that has become your family. The music starts, the base pulsing through the speakers, through your body as you dance. The crowd goes crazy as you and your team leave it all on the dance floor.

This Saturday, the 14, is the D’ettes first competition. The girls have been preparing for this since April. They have put in a lot of work, practicing every A-day and Saturday morning, as well as every Tuesday and Wednesday night.

This is what’s known as a qualifying competition. There are three qualifying competitions total, and their place at semi finals is based on how well they perform at these first three competitions. Then, of course, they advance on to the state competition.

Last year at state they placed third overall, and sixth in the dance category. Pretty impressive considering they were up against 23 schools!

This year they’re reaching even higher, hoping to place first at state.

Our goal is to be state champions! We are working so hard to attain this goal!” commented Sage Bangeter, one of the captains on the team.

In order to get there they have to start small, which means performing well at this competition. It will be held at Utah Valley University this Saturday. The D’ettes will be performing their military routine at 11:00 am, their dance routine at noon, and their character routine at 2:00 pm.
