This past weekend the D’ettes hosted their second annual Davis Valley Classic. It is a drill competition organized and run by the girls and their coaches. It comes before the first qualifying drill competition of the season, so for many of the teams it was their first time performing their routines in front of a judge. Talk about pressure!

The d’ettes host the Davis Valley Classic as a fundraiser. The money raised helps pay for their costumes, and other competition expenses. This proves to be a huge fundraiser, as 22 other schools showed up to compete!

Here’s how the competition is run:

The girls compete in three different categories: military, dance, and character. These are the routines the schools perform at every competition. The top five schools that place in each category place, and then an overall winner is picked based on school classification. Layton won for 6A and Bountiful won for 5A schools.

While Davis didn’t compete, they did have a lot of fun performing. They gave the rest of the schools a sneak peak at what they would be up against and performed all three of their competition routines.

“We hit our routine the best we’ve ever done and we were so happy!” commented Sage Bangeter, one of the team captains, on their dance routine.

A fun weekend with friends, performing, and supporting their sister teams was just what the girls needed. Now they’re ready to jump into competition season. Good luck girls, we’re cheering for you!
