Davis High Rocks the Rockwell Rumble
January 29, 2019
The Rockwell Rumble is one of the biggest Wrestling Tournaments in the West. It boasts over 60 teams coming from several different locations in the west. Our Davis High wrestling team is one of many, but they strive to separate from the masses and rise to the top of this high-profile tournament.
Bo Roundy, the Davis High wrestling Coach, was very optimistic going into the tournament. “It’s a huge opportunity for us to compete against some of the toughest guys around,” Coach Roundy explained, “It doesn’t have any effect on our region or state ranking, but it’s a chance for our boys to get noticed.”
The Davis wrestlers did just that. Everyone did great, but Heston Percival and Parker Coffey were the Darts who stood out most. Percival (who has an impressive record of 20-5) made it to the second day of the tournament, which is quite the accomplishment. When asked about some of the talented competitors he faced, he reflected on something he learned a long time ago, “I don’t worry about the guy I’m facing. It doesn’t matter who he is or where he’s from. He’s trying to beat you, and you’ve got to beat him first.” This mindset has lead Percival to major success this season.
The Davis High Wrestling team gave it their all at the Rockwell Rumble. They look to continue this success as they go into the 6A Division and State tournaments.
